On 11 March, Armenia’s Minister of Defense Davit Tonoyan received NATO Deputy Assistant Secretary General for Political Affairs, the NATO Secretary General’s Special Representative for the Caucasus and Central Asia James Appathurai, who is in Armenia within the framework of NATO Week in Armenia (11-15 March).

Several issues related to the Armenia-NATO cooperation, particularly the actions envisaged by the Armenia-NATO Individual Partnership Action Plan and the Partnership for Peace Planning and Review Process, the summary and evaluation of those actions, as well as planning for the coming years were discussed during the meeting. Importance was attached to Armenia’s participation in the NATO peace-support missions in Kosovo and Afghanistan as a major contribution for ensuring global security.

James Appathurai expressed gratitude for holding NATO Week and for hosting a high-level forum devoted to integrity at the Ministry of Defense of the Republic of Armenia on the sidelines of NATO Week.

Regional security issues were also discussed.
