Turkish President Erdogan has said the country’s authorities might change the status of the Hagia Sophia so that Turks can visit for free, reports TASS.

“The status of the Hagia Sophia may be reverted from a museum to a mosque after the local bodies’ elections on 31 March. Tourists of all faiths can now enter the Blue Mosque located next to the Hagia Sophia for free, and the same will also go for the Hagia Sofia,” the President told TGRT.

Currently, a ticket to enter the museum costs 60 Turkish lires ($10). On 18 March, Erdogan said he didn’t support the idea of reverting the Hagia Sofia to a mosque since that could lead to serious consequences.
