AGHVERAN. – Official opening of the School for Local Democracy was held Friday in Aghveran village of Armenia’s Kotayk Province, the Armenian News-NEWS.am corresponded reported from the event.

Armenian Deputy Minister of Territorial Administration and Development Vache Terteryan, and US Ambassador Lynne Tracy also were on hand.

The program is funded by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID).

This school will become an education platform for local self-government, public oversight, and advocacy.

The objective of this program is to help the youth actively engage in local self-government.

A total of 75 university students from Armenia are included in the program. After the first phase of their respective study, they will be interning at ministries, local self-government agencies, and NGOs.
