By the decision of the Prime Minister of Armenia, Armenia will set up a council for women’s issues to be chaired by Deputy Prime Minister Tigran Avinyan, as reported on e-gov.am.

“Guided by part 16 of Article 7 of the Law of the Republic of Armenia “On the Structure and Activities of the Government” and part 1 of Article 37 of the Law of the Republic of Armenia “On regulatory legal acts”, a council for women’s issues shall be established in the Republic of Armenia and the individual composition thereof shall be approved for the purpose of coordinating the works in regard to women’s equality issues and establishing a national mechanism for ensuring women’s equality. A task force shall be set up and its individual composition shall be approved in order to organize the activities of the council,” the decision reads.

Among the members will be Minister of Labor and Social Affairs Zaruhi Batoyan; deputy of the Prosperous Armenia faction of the National Assembly, Chair of the Standing Committee on Protection of Human Rights and Public Affairs Naira Zohrabyan; deputy of the My Step faction of the National Assembly Hamazasp Danielyan; deputy of the Prosperous Armenia faction Shakeh Isayan, as well as deputy ministers and other officials.
