The Patriarchate of Venice has announced the cancelation of all Holy Masses, including the upcoming Ash Wednesday mass, ANSA reports.

The decision, which concerns Sunday services, was made in connection with the spread of the coronavirus and the Veneto authorities’ instruction to cease any public activity.

Representatives of the Roman Catholic Church have advised the faithful not to forget about prayer and to be guided by spiritual service which is broadcast on radio and television.

According to the authorities’ recent data, more than 150 people have been infected with the new coronavirus in Italy.
