Deputy of the My Step faction of the National Assembly of Armenia Tatev Hayrapetyan today posted the following on her Facebook page:

“After a long pause, yesterday Aliyev decided to respond to Pashinyan’s seven points that are exclusively aimed at improving the atmosphere, establishing mutual confidence and introducing international monitoring mechanisms that will serve as a major basis for increase of the effectiveness of the negotiations. Moreover, the dictatorial president of Azerbaijan responded with words that should not be used in diplomacy.

Aliyev, who stands out with his Armenophobic statements, belligerent speeches and destructive position, is trying to create an imitation that the negotiations are in a ‘deadlock’. There is no deadlock in terms of format and process. The Armenian side has always been constructive, stressing that there is no military solution and that the only solution must be sought within the scope of peaceful negotiations. Nevertheless, the Armenian side has stressed that security can’t be ceded, and groundless conversations about unilateral concessions are unacceptable.

I would like to remind Baku’s dictator that both he and his father have given consent to the proposed solutions enshrining the right of the people of Artsakh to self-determination, and this is also indisputable. It is clear that the biggest threat to the course and effectiveness of the negotiations is Azerbaijan’s aggression and provocations, anti-Armenian policy and belligerent statements.

The Armenian sides have stressed several times that there is no alternative to peaceful talks. Nevertheless, if Aliyev’s statements are followed by provocations against the borders of Armenia and Artsakh, the response of the Armenian sides will be more than adequate. It would be better if Aliyev learned lessons from the incidents that took place in Tavush Province of Armenia and return to the negotiating table in order to continue the discussions.”
