Vice-President of the European Parliament Nicola Beer spoke in favor of imposing sanctions on Belarusian judges, Interfax-Ukraine reported.
There are not enough personal sanctions imposed on representatives of power structures, she noted urging to impose sanctions on representatives of the judicial and law enforcement systems - supporters of president Aleksandr Lukashenko.
She added that European countries must seek a balance between pressure and interaction with the Belarusian authorities.
Last year the EU introduced three packages of sanctions on Belarus. In December last year, the EU Council issued a resolution on the third EU sanctions package against Belarus for 29 individuals and seven legal entities.
