Stability in Armenia is important for an armistice in Nagorno-Karabakh, Turkey is closely following the events in Yerevan, FM Mevlut Cavusoglu said on Thursday, RIA Novosti reported.

Earlier, the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Armenia demanded the resignation of Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan and warned him against using force against his people.

Pashinyan said that after the demands of the armed forces for his resignation, he dismissed the head of the General Staff Onik Gasparyan. On Wednesday, Armenian President Armen Sarkissian, at the suggestion of Pashinyan, fired First Deputy Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces, Tiran Khachatryan, who, according to media reports, mocked the words of the head of government about the Iskander complexes.

Cavusoglu spoke about events taking place in Armenia as an attempted coup and strongly condemned it, RIA Novosti reported.

“We agreed on Karabakh within the framework of three countries, and stability in these countries is very important in order to manage the process (the armistice in Nagorno-Karabakh - ed.). We follow the events in Armenia according to media reports, and also try to get more detailed information from there through our channels,” Cavusoglu said, speaking in Budapest, where he is on a working visit.

The broadcast was conducted on minister's Twitter.
