Former US Vice President Walter Mondale, who served during the administration of President Jimmy Carter, has died aged 94, Axios reports, citing a member of his family.

Mondale was a member of the United States Democratic Party. He served as vice president from 1977 to 1981 in the Carter administration. In 1984, the politician ran for the presidency from the Democrats but lost to the Republican Ronald Reagan. From 1993 to 1996, he was the US Ambassador to Japan.
