YEREVAN. – Representatives of the ruling Civil Contract Party (CCP) of Armenia, Vahagn Aleksanyan and Armen Khojoyan, just recently submitted their party's electoral list—for the snap parliamentary elections on June 20—to the Central Electoral Commission (CEC). There are 161 MP candidates on this list, and four of them are from national minorities of the country.

Speaking to reporters after submitting this list to the CEC, Vahagn Aleksanyan, a member of the My Step majority faction in parliament, said: "Our only expectation is that the people's power will be re-established in these elections. We leave it to the people to choose through whom the people will exercise their power as the governing force. Very soon, we will publish the full Civil Contract [electoral] list in an hour. The list is very inclusive, including both from the executive and the National Assembly. Yes, [deputy PM] Tigran Avinyan is not [there]; some of the executives are not on the list."

And to the question why CCP member and Yerevan Mayor Hayk Marutyan is not in this list, the MP of My Step responded: "Do you mean that Hayk Marutyan should have left the mayor's office, become an MP? Being a candidate [for MP] is not an end in itself."
