Russia was our ally, it is our ally today, too, I am sure it will be our ally tomorrow, too, and as an ally, they have mainly fulfilled their obligations. The third President of Armenia, Serzh Sargsyan stated this Tuesday during a meeting with residents in Ashtarak city.

"But we must understand one very clear thing that those allied relations are not one-sided. We [Armenia] cannot sit here, assume that only we should want from Russia and they shall bring their soldiers here, sacrifice. I do not know, should they give us their [natural] gas for free? It seems that they owe us; there can be no such relationship, there is no such thing in human relations," he said.

Sargsyan noted that if you show disrespect to the Russian president, he will not show respect. "Hey, who did you become that you do not meet the Russian president at the airport? Who did you become? Who are you? Regardless of the person—it is Putin, it is Medvedev, it is Yeltsin—, who are you? Why did you treat that person disrespectfully?” he added addressing Armenian acting PM Nikol Pashinyan. “According to our laws—specifically, the law on protocols—the President or the Prime Minister of the Republic of Armenia meets at the airport the presidents and prime ministers of the countries that are permanent members of the UN Security Council who have arrived in Armenia. Maybe only we know those laws? The Russians know about it, too."
