Yesterday, the armed forces of Azerbaijan carried out another provocation in the southeastern part of the Armenia-Azerbaijan border, and struck the Armenian military unit carrying out engineering work. This was announced by Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan at Thursday’s Cabinet meeting of the government of Armenia.

"This is another manifestation of Azerbaijani aggression. Moreover, the engineering work was being carried out in the territory of Armenia, and the [military] units of Azerbaijan which struck were also in the territory of Armenia. This is the continuation of aggression, the territory of Armenia is occupied, our position is clear and unequivocal that the armed forces of Azerbaijan must withdraw from the territory of Armenia," Pashinyan added.

The Ministry of Defense of Armenia had informed earlier that starting at around 6pm on Wednesday, the units of the Azerbaijani armed forces opened fire—using mortars and large-caliber firearms—at the Armenian military positions located in the eastern direction of the Armenia-Azerbaijan border. The Armenian side resorted to retaliatory actions. As of 10pm, the situation on the Armenian-Azerbaijani border has relatively stabilized. But as a result of this new Azerbaijani provocation, the Armenian side has three casualties.
