CSTO Secretary General Stanislav Zas says he sees the threat of expanding the conflict in Ukraine because of the actions of NATO, he said in his speech in Yerevan at a joint meeting of the Council of Foreign Ministers, the Council of Defense Ministers and the Committee of Secretaries of Security Councils of the CSTO member states, BelTA informs.

Stanislav Zas noted the work on strengthening of the CSTO unity and further intensification of activities in all directions. "Given the fact that the negative trends in the development of the current international situation are particularly acute in recent years, these our efforts are of particular importance, accordingly," he said.

Talking about the Eastern European region, Zas said NATO is building up its military contingents and improving its military infrastructure, approaching the western borders of the CSTO area of responsibility. "Of course, this creates additional challenges, including for our organization. Massive support of Ukraine by the North Atlantic Alliance and other states leads to the threat of expanding the conflict, including through the involvement of other states in it," the Secretary General said.
