It is important for Iran to preserve the territorial integrity of the South Caucasus countries, said Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian at a meeting with his Azerbaijani counterpart Jeyhun Bayramov in the margins of the 26th meeting of the Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO) Foreign Ministers Council in Tashkent, Mehr reports.

He said new developments in the South Caucasus, the liberation of the occupied Azerbaijani territories and the subsequent ceasefire agreement have opened new windows and opportunities for stability and integration in the region.

He also noted that maintaining the territorial integrity of countries in the region was important for Iran, adding that the Islamic Republic "has always supported and will continue to support the territorial integrity" of Azerbaijan.

The Iranian diplomat stressed the bilateral potential for expanding relations, especially in the economic and trade fields, expressing hope that bilateral trade relations would expand through real planning and serious will.
