The Guinness Book of World Records has unveiled Bobi, the world's oldest dog. Bobi is 30 years and 266 days old.

The Guinness Book of World Records said in a statement that Bobby reclaimed the title from a 23-year-old dog named Spike, who in January was named the world's oldest living dog.

He also broke the record for the oldest dog in history, the Australian shepherd dog Bluey, who lived 29 years and 5 months between 1910 and 1939.

Bobi is a purebred Rafeiro do Alentejo: a breed of livestock guard dog with an average life span of 12-14 years.

He lived his entire life with the Costa family in the Portuguese countryside.
