The rescuers from Armenia have managed to get a child out of the earthquake rubble alive in Turkey. Pakrat Estukyan, editor of Agos Armenian weekly of Istanbul, said this in a telephone conversation with the RFE/RL Armenian Service.
"This is a very happy phenomenon for rescue teams. Instead of constantly taking out corpses, freeing a survivor, saving a life is a very exciting factor for them," Estukyan added.
The number of casualties as a result of Monday’s devastating earthquake in Turkey has exceeded 17 thousand, and seven days of mourning have been declared in the country.
