Poland has strengthened security measures on the border with the Kaliningrad region - among other things, anti-tank bugs have been installed at the approaches to the border with Russia, said Polish Defense Minister Mariusz Błaszczak.

According to the minister, who published photos of the barriers in Twitter, the strengthening of the country's border protection is a preventive measure, which is part of the "defense and deterrence strategy" of Poland. Similarly, the country will strengthen the protection of the border with Russia and Belarus, Blaszczak pointed out.

The day before, new rules of crossing the Belarusian-Polish border, imposed by Warsaw, came into force. They essentially consist in the fact that the border between the countries now fully operates only one road border crossing for cars and trucks.

In March, construction of a more substantial fence will begin at the border - it will be equipped with a system of sensors and cameras, which will allow 24-hour monitoring of the situation regardless of weather conditions and without the need to be directly on the border line, said Polish Border Guard spokesman Anna Michalska. Algorithms of the warning system will be adjusted to respond to attempts to cross the border by people, not animals, the Border Guard Service specified.
