Moldova's Deputy Prime Minister for Reintegration Oleg Serebrian called the reports about the military operation being prepared against the unrecognized "Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic" false.

"Moldovan authorities have repeatedly spoken about being committed to exclusively peaceful means of settling the Transnistrian conflict. This is the firm, principled position of the government," Serebrian said in an interview with Vocea Basarabiei television.

"Our efforts are focused on that. We are conducting negotiations with the administration of Transnistria, which also announces its desire to conduct negotiations," Serebrian emphasized.

The Ministry of Defense (MOD) of Moldova dismissed earlier the rumors about preparing a military operation in Transnistria.

"The false information being disseminated is aimed at creating panic and confusion among the residents of both banks of the Dniester [river]," the Moldovan MOD had stated.
