YEREVAN.- Subdivisions of multiple launch rocket systems under the command of Colonel Marat Hovhannisyan enter the Yerevan Republic Square followed by MM-21 systems.

Missile troops are followed by subdivisions of WM-80 multiple launch rocket system, which can destroy the enemy at a distance of 110 kilometers. The next are units of short-range tactical ballistic missile (Tochka) with operational range up to 120 kilometers which can attack the opponent’s targets fast and effectively.

The next in the square are 9K72 tactical ballistic missile. These complexes have been modernized and provided with up-to-date electronic equipment by the Armenian experts. This allows overcoming ballistic anti-missile defense and destroying the objects of tactical importance at a distance of 300 kilometers even if they are located in densely populated areas. Anti-missile defense forces which destroyed about 30 jets and helicopters during the war are headed by Colonel Nikolay Babayan.

Subdivisions armed with S-125 surface-to-air missile system capable of hitting targets in the range of 25 kilometers and height of 18 kilometers, Krug medium-to-high altitude surface-to-air missile which protected the air borders of Armenia enter the square.

Next in the square is automatically controlled anti-aircraft missile system S-300, one division of which can simultaneously track six targets, launching at each two guided missiles. Specially adjusted to the conditions of mountain air, defense battalions of S-300 control the entire airspace of the Republic of Armenia.

Capability of the Armenian battalions allows suppressing any air attack in any direction. They can simultaneously destroy over thirty means of air attack, and, if necessary - also hit surface targets.

During the recent Combat Commonwealth tactical exercise held at Ashuluk range in Russia, units of Armenia’s air defense forces struck the targets implementing the task.
