In modern times, the relations between Armenia and Lebanon are marked by mutually beneficial cooperation in bilateral and multilateral formats. Armenian Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan stated this on Wednesday, during a meeting with Lebanese foreign minister Abdallah Bou Habib, in Cairo.

The interlocutors noted with satisfaction that Armenian-Lebanese relations are based on common history, age-old friendship and cultural commonalities, emphasizing also the contribution of the Armenian community to the social and political life of Lebanon, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Armenia informs Armenian News-NEWS.am.

The two FMs expressed readiness to continue joint efforts toward implementing new initiatives in education, science, culture, and some other domains.

Regional security and stability issues were also on the agenda of the meeting.

In the context of the security situation and the existing respective challenges in the South Caucasus, Minister Mirzoyan considered the exploitation of the religious factor by Azerbaijan unacceptable, as well as the groundless attempts to disrupt the traditional warm relations between Armenia, the Armenian people, and the Arab world.

And reflecting on the humanitarian crisis created in Nagorno-Karabakh as a result of Azerbaijan's ongoing illegal blocking of the Lachin corridor, Ararat Mirzoyan emphasized the imperative of implementing the decision made by the International Court of Justice on February 22 regarding the application of urgent measures against Azerbaijan.
