The International Committee of the Red Cross is currently taking appropriate steps within its mandate - through dialogue, to transfer the 68-year-old citizen who was on his way from [Artsakh] Nagorno-Karabakh to Armenia for treatment under ICRC escort, but was abducted and taken away in an unknown direction by Azerbaijan, Zara Amatuni, Communication and Prevention Program Manager of the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) in Armenia, told Armenpress.

She noted that thanks to prearranged procedures, they have so far been able to safely transport people, medical personnel or citizens who previously expressed a desire to be reunited with their families.

“Regarding this particular situation, we are addressing all the issues to the relevant authorities, but we will do it through dialogue and it will be confidential, as of now I cannot provide any other details regarding the incident,” she said.
