The Republic of Armenia and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia will have non-resident ambassadors during the initial period of diplomatic relations, Press Secretary of the Armenian Foreign Ministry Ani Badalyan told Armenpress agency, commenting on the protocol on the establishment of diplomatic relations signed between Armenia and Saudi Arabia.

“At the initial stage, the two states will have non-resident ambassadors, and as relations develop and deepen, it is possible to open embassies in the capitals,” the press secretary explained.

Earlier, the Armenian Foreign Ministry reported that on November 24, a protocol on the establishment of diplomatic relations was signed between the Republic of Armenia and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. It was signed in Abu Dhabi by the Ambassador of the Republic of Armenia to the UAE Karen Grigoryan and the Ambassador of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to the UAE Sultan bin Abdullah Al-Angari.
