The China-EU summit will take place Thursday in Beijing.

The leaders of the two sides will discuss strategic and global economic matters of mutual interest, informed the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) of China.

Chinese President Xi Jinping will meet with European Council President Charles Michel, and European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen.

"China and Europe are partners, not competitors... our common interests outweigh our differences," said Wang Wenbin, the spokesperson of the Chinese MFA, in a press briefing.

"We will explore ways to solve problems through dialogue and consultations," he noted. "We will cooperate to face global challenges, give a new impetus to peace, and increase the stability of the international situation."
