Russian President Vladimir Putin held a telephone conversation with his Egyptian counterpart Abdel Fattah al-Sisi. They discussed the situation in the Gaza Strip and agreed to seek a ceasefire in the enclave. This was reported on Facebook by the official representative of the Egyptian President Ahmed Fahmy.

According to him, during the conversation "they discussed the situation in the region, especially in the Gaza Strip, in light of the tense political and humanitarian situation."

The sides also discussed Egypt's efforts to deliver humanitarian aid to the enclave.

Putin and al-Sisi agreed to "continue to seriously pursue a ceasefire and that the international community should take responsibility for achieving this goal," Fahmy specified, Kommersant reported.
