Babken Ararktsyan, former speaker of the National Assembly of Armenia, founding member of the Pan-Armenian National Movement, and member of the Karabakh Committee, has died. He was 79 years old.

Ararktsyan was born on September 16, 1944 in Yerevan.

He was a candidate of mathematical physics, an associate professor.

In the 2000s, Babken Ararktsyan had founded and managed the Armat non-governmental organization.
