The Eurasian Development Bank (EDB) has not made a final decision on the funding of the Amulsar gold mine project in Armenia. Denis Ilin, senior manager-director at the EDB, announced this at a press conference in Almaty, Kazakhstan, Sputnik Armenia reported.

According to him, the EDB treats this project "very carefully," not in a hurry.

For the adoption of the final decision in this regard, not only expertise studies are needed, but also, in priority order, the development of an environmental monitoring plan for this project, in order to "preserve both the national park, the ecology of that region, and obtain economic benefit."

"And we are currently at the phase of drawing up an environmental plan. If it is accepted, approved by the client and is beneficial to us, then a decision will be made about the final engagement in the project," added Ilin.

Now that the aforesaid plan is being drawn up, the EDB hopes that it will be ready and presented at the end of the year.

Also, Ilin expressed hope that after the final agreement of the environmental plan with the client, it will be presented to the local and Armenian public in general.
