The death toll in the earthquake in northwest China has reached 118, reports China Central Television.

At 11:59pm (7:59pm Armenia time) on Monday, a magnitude 6.2 earthquake occurred in Jishishan Bonan, Dongxiang and Salar Autonomous County of Linxia Hui Autonomous Prefecture in Gansu province.

Previously, 111 casualties were reported.

So far 105 people have died in the earthquake in Gansu province and 13 in neighboring Qinghai province. In the latter, contact with 20 people was also lost, and another 182 people were injured.

In addition, water supply, electricity, transport, communication, and some other infrastructure were damaged in the disaster area.

China's Ministry of Finance and Ministry of Emergency Management  (MEM) have allocated 200 million yuan (about $28 million) for disaster relief to Gansu and Qinghai provinces.

MEM announced an enhanced, level-two earthquake response mode on Tuesday. According to its data, 1,440 firefighters and rescuers are working in the area of the earthquake.
