The main owner of Exoil Group holding, Karen Vanetsyan, who is wanted by Armenia in connection with a criminal case on charges of money laundering by using official powers, was detained in downtown Moscow. A source close to the Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs told RBC this, which was confirmed by a source in the regional police department.

Arrest was chosen as a preventive measure against Vanetsyan in Armenia.

Russia has informed the Armenian authorities about this businessman being taken into custody.

The RBC sources said that Vanetsyan announced that he was unemployed. According to their information, Karen Vanetsyan lives in the Lipetsk Region of Russia.

Exoil Group holding did not comment on Vanetsyan's being taken into custody.

Earlier, several Telegram channels had reported about the detention of this Armenian businessman.
