"Ameriabank" confirmed a report circulated by Bank of Georgia Group PLC, according to which the group is negotiating to acquire a shareholding.

"Negotiations are underway, but there is no confirmed deal," Ameriabank said in response to an Armenian query.

Earlier, Bank of Georgia Group PLC confirmed the information that "negotiations are underway with Ameriabank and its shareholders on a potential acquisition. 

"This transaction is intended to be financed with the Group's surplus capital, without changing the Company's dividend and capital distribution policy.

The transaction, if it proceeds, will constitute a class 1 transaction under the UK FCA's Listing Rules.," the statement said.

Bank of Georgia Group PLC is an international financial company registered in the UK, shares of which are owned by such major investment organizations as JP Morgan, BlackRock, Vanguard and others.
