Since this year, the bilateral defense cooperation between Armenia and France has been put on the basis of clear planning and is developing in more than a dozen domains. Armenian Defense Minister Suren Papikyan stated this in a joint press briefing with French Minister for the Armed Forces, Sebastien Lecornu, in Yerevan on Friday.

"The interstate relations based on the shared values of the Armenian and French peoples are in the center of attention of our heads of state and are expanding day by day, and cooperation in the defense sector of great importance here.

The visit of the minister of defense of France to Armenia testifies to the fact that although the [bilateral] cooperation in the military domain has not reached a practical level, thanks to our joint efforts, it is already systemic and far-reaching.

We finished our discussion a few minutes ago. All domains of the armed forces are included in our agenda. I must especially emphasize France's comprehensive assistance in the process of [Armenia’s] military reforms, military education, training courses, modernization of the armed forces and defense equipment, as well as consulting in the matter of developing technico-military cooperation.

I have presented the course of reforms of the Armenia’s Armed Forces, which are meant to form armed forces that meet modern standards and face the current challenges," said the minister of defense of Armenia.
