India considers Armenia an important bridge to enter other, larger markets, including the Eurasian Economic Union market. Raffy Semerdjian, Secretary General at International Chamber of Commerce National Committee Armenia (ICC NCA), told reporters about this within the framework of the India-Armenia business forum in Yerevan on Thursday.

In this context, Semerdjian called to think about the development of the re-export of Indian goods from Armenia to other countries.

According to him, the opening of direct flights between Armenia and India would be an important step from the point of view of the development of bilateral relations and business ties—and taking into account that Armenia’s two neighbors already operate such flights.

"The purpose of the event [i.e. the India-Armenia business forum] is to strengthen [bilateral] ties, especially in the high technology and tourism sectors. India opens up great opportunities in the cashless account sector as 45 percent of global cashless accounts are handled in India. Established academic connections are important. It is necessary to capitalize and advance all this, to assist large Indian companies so that they can invest in Armenia's economy," said Semerdjian.

He informed that a bigger Armenian-Indian business forum could be organized at the end of the year.
