We do not consider the scenario of NPP suspension, I think we will be able to meet the deadline. However, if necessary, with the support of the general designer, we can extend the life of the plant, it is estimated till 2039, but we are oriented to 2036. As Armenian News-NEWS.am correspondent reports, Eduard Martirosyan, General Director of Armenian Nuclear Power Plant CJSC, told reporters at the ATOMEXPO-2024 International Forum in Sochi.
An interdepartmental group is working on the construction of small model NPPs, which, according to the plans of the Government of Armenia, should replace the existing Armenian NPP. It can assess the capacity of the stations and other issues.
Martirosyan explained that this is a big project and requires serious research.
