French police have detained a 62-year-old Egyptian man suspected of attempting to organize a terrorist attack, Bild reports. It is alleged that the man was planning an attack on the world-famous Cathedral of Notre Dame de Paris.

The detention, as Le Journal du Dimanche writes, took place on 5 March, but it became known only now. In just the last few weeks, five people suspected of terrorism have been arrested, said French Interior Minister Gerald Darmanen. All suspects were linked to the terrorist group ISIS.

France has declared the highest level of terrorist alert for the Easter holidays. This occurs when an attack is thought to be imminent. Police have been advised to station at least one policeman in front of every church in the country.

Last Thursday, ISIS spokesman Abu Huzaifa al-Ansari called for "attacks on Christians and Jews everywhere" during the ongoing month of Ramadan.

In November 2015, ISIS terrorists carried out a massacre in the French capital, killing 130 people and injuring more than 680 at the Bataclan concert hall, as well as in restaurants and bars.

About a week ago, terrorists recruited by ISIS attacked people at a concert in Moscow, killing more than 130 people. Wilayat Khorasan, a branch of the Islamic State in Afghanistan, claimed responsibility for the attack.
