YEREVAN. – The Government of Armenia petitioned to Yukiya Amano, Director General of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), with a request to provide support in extending the life of the Armenian Nuclear Power Plant’s second—and currently operating—power block, PM Tigran Sargsyan announced during Thursday’s session of the Government.   

Yukiya Amano is currently in the capital Yerevan, and he already met with the PM.   

The Government on Thursday adopted a decision on extending the operation lifetime of the Plant’s second power unit, which was to expire on September 1, 2016.  

As per Tigran Sargsyan, the IAEA Director General promised to assist in this matter.
