YEREVAN. – Arman Veziryan from the Helsinki Association human rights organization was attacked in Armenia’s capital Yerevan on Monday, Zhoghovurd daily writes.

“Activists from the [parliamentary] election campaign headquarters of Arshak Banuchyan, [MP] candidate from the [opposition bloc Armenian National Congress] ANC, distributed campaign material and placed a booklet near the entrance of a house. At that time, a close-to-45-year-old man came out and started to yell, demanding that they take back the booklet and leave.

The young man, who placed the booklet, apologized while Arman Veziryan, who followed the course of the campaign as an observer, approached to pick up the booklet. At that time, the man hit the human rights activist in the face.

Veziryan appealed to the Police,” Zhoghovurd writes.
