YEREVAN. – Armenia’s President and the ruling coalition Republican Party of Armenia Chairman Serzh Sargsyan, along with capital Yerevan Mayor Taron Margaryan, on Tuesday visited Mashtots Park, an activist at the Park told Armenian News-NEWS.am.

“I, as an activist, approached and asked the President to express his view in connection with the kiosks in the Park. He noted that he will try to lawfully take care of this matter and to resolve, pursuant to the law, the issue of the proprietors’ rights,” the activist noted.

In the activist’s words, Serzh Sargsyan was giving Taron Margaryan instructions, and it seemed he was saying that the kiosks must be disassembled in a short time period.

At present, the activists—who oppose the construction of, and demand the dismantling of the already installed, kiosks at Mashtots Park—are awaiting official news as to the Mayor’s next step. The President’s visit to the Park was a surprise for the activists and the Police alike.
