Armenian ethnic minorities to participate in chess tournament in ArmeniaJune 26, 2012 | 14:49

YEREVAN. – Russian community in Armenia and Hayasa youth organization will hold chess tournament among ethnic minorities under the motto Intellect in Equation.

“Taking into account that this year in the CIS member-states is marked as a year of healthy lifestyle, we decided to choose chess as a sport direction for the tournament,” the Russian community Yuri Yakovenko said on Tuesday adding the tournament is scheduled for June 30 and July 1 at the age groups of 8 - 14, 15 - 18 and 19 – 22.

Founder and head of Hayasa Suren Mkrtchyan added besides chess tournament, volleyball competition will be organized in Sevan as well.

“Such tournaments serve as bridges for ethnic minorities living in Armenia,” he said.
