Asbarez Armenian newspaper, which is being published in the United States, marked its 104th anniversary, Asbarez reports.

“We wish our readers a happy anniversary, as without you our newspaper would not have survived for more than a century,” the newspaper states.

 The first edition of Asbarez was published on Aug. 14 in 1908 in Fresno (California, United States).

In 1978, the Armenian Review dedicated one of its issues to the 70th anniversary of Asbarez. In it were the English translation of two articles written by Abraham K. Seklemian, the first editor of Asbarez and the assistant editor at the time, Hovannes Kabadyan, who would later take the editorial responsibilities. The two were reflecting on the early days of Asbarez for a 10th anniversary special published in 1918 in Armenian.
