ETCHMIADZIN. - Catholicos of All Armenians Karekin II received on Wednesday newly appointed Iran’s Ambassador to Armenia Mohammad Raiesi.

Catholicos Karekin II stated the two nations have close ties, while cooperation between the countries embraces many fields. In his speech, he mentioned about the contacts between the Holy See and the Iranian embassy especially in terms of joint projects carried out in the field of culture as well as inter-religious dialogue. 

His Holiness Karekin II conveyed condolences to the Iranian government on the victims of devastating earthquake. In his turn, Ambassador Raiesi thanked the Armenian Church, the government and Armenian people for the assistance. They also discussed current situation in Syria.
