YEREVAN. – The powerful quake occurred in Van, Turkey, was followed by tremors registered in Azerbaijan’s Zakatala city and Iran. The aftershocks are not yet over, Armenian Ministry of Emergency Situations representative A1hkhen Tovmasyan told reporters on Thursday.

The quakes were followed by the one registered nearby Igdir, Turkey, which was recorded in Armenia as well.

“The common sign of those quakes is that they occurred in the same Alps-Himalayan seismic zone. It means that the aforesaid quakes could have not affected Armenia,” she said.

The other participant of the conference, representative of the Ministry Gurgen Namalyan said that they conducted micro seismic studies in Armenia’s Agarak and Meghri cities proving seismic intensity made from 5 up to 6 magnitude.
