BAKU. – Russian Ambassador to Azerbaijan Vladimir Dorokhin was called to the Azerbaijani MFA on Tuesday and was passed a note of protest in connection with the statements by the Leader of the Liberal Democratic Party of Russia Vladimir Zhirinovsky in an action in Moscow against pardoning Azeri murderer Ramil Safarov, who killed Armenian lieutenant in Hungary, Trend reports.

The Azerbaijani deputy FM Khalaf Khalafov passed a strict protest to the Russian diplomat in regard with irresponsible challenges, which according to Azeris cause incitement of ethnic hatred and crime against the Azerbaijani nation by Russian MP Zhirinovsky in the action held on Sept. 14 in Moscow.

According to Khalafov, such statements shadow existing cooperation and friendly relations between the two states. Besides, the deputy FM stated that the statements hamper Russia’s mediating mission within the OSCE Minsk Group on Nagorno-Karabakh peace process talks.
