A Georgian officer who shot the video of tortures in the Tbilisi prison was detained on Wednesday on Georgian-Armenian border, GHN agency reported.

According to the reports, Data Akobiya was detained when he was trying to cross the border.

Earlier Georgian Minister of Corrections and Legal Assistance Khatuna Kalmakhelidze handed in her resignation. Several high ranking officials were detained.

President Mikhail Saakashvili issued a statement condemning violent attitude towards prisoners and promising that those responsible would be punished.
