YEREVAN. – Finding a job is the number-one problem for the Syrian Armenians who have moved to Armenia, Diaspora Minister Hranush Hakobyan said Wednesday during a conference devoted to the Syrian Armenians.

In the minister’s words, the high paying jobs are scarce in Armenia, whereas the Syrian Armenians are used to high salaries. Also, numerous Syrian Armenians wish to establish their own business in Armenia, but, to do that, the country’s legislation and market need to be studied.

In his turn, Small and Medium Entrepreneurship Development National Center Director Varazdat Karapetyan informed that they are carrying out a number of programs and Syrian Armenians likewise could get involved in them. “If twenty people are gathered, we can start the activities tomorrow!” he noted.

Diaspora Minister Hranush Hakobyan added that close to 150 Syrian Armenians have already found jobs.

The businessmen attending the conference introduced several job opportunities, some which included housing and joint activities. By and large, however, the Syrian Armenians were suggested to engage in a variety of jobs.
