Iran plans to build a pipeline to increase the supplies to the Northern provinces and reduce dependence on import from Turkmenistan, Tehran Times reported quoting National Iranian Gas Company’s Managing Director Javad Owji.

The 160-kilometer proposed pipeline is projected to carry natural gas from Semnan province to Mazandaran province, the newspaper writes. The project is estimated at around $285 million.

Iran is importing 18 million cubic meters of gas per day from Turkmenistan.
