YEREVAN.- South Caucasus Railway (SCR) is interested in resuming communication via Abkhazia, SCR Director General Victor Rebets told reporters on Friday.

Since there are three engaged parties – Russia, Abkhazia and Georgia – position of each side is important, he added.

“We hope that solutions will be found and the railway link would be restored,” Rebet said.

Earlier newly appointed Reintegration Minister Paata Zakareishvili said Georgia agrees to unblock Sochi-Sukhum-Kutaisi railway. In late November, he said the issue had been removed from the agenda because of unwillingness from the Abkhazian side.

The South Caucasus Railways is a 100% subsidiary of the Russian Railways Company and manages Armenian railways on concession. The contract is signed for 30 years in 2008 with 10 years of possible prolongations.
