YEREVAN.- After his official visit to Baku, Georgian PM Bidzina Ivanishvili abandoned his previous intention on finding energy alternative to neighboring Azerbaijan, Armenian  political analyst Alik Eroyants told reporters.

He recalled that last December 26 newly elected Georgian PM announced his upcoming visits, including that to Baku.

“As you know, the new Georgian Energy Minister Kakha Kaladze spoke about the need to find a suitable alternative to Azerbaijan in the energy sector and to improve relations with Russia. However, after visit to Baku, Ivanishvili denied a new foreign policy initiative, and decided to continue energy cooperation with Azerbaijan,” Eroyants said.

The expert believes Kaladze’s statement is a kind of message addressed to Baku, saying Russia can be an alternative to Azerbaijan.

According to him, the current government of Georgia is also trying to improve its relations with Armenia. Although, they realize they cannot afford deterioration of relations with Azerbaijan.
