YEREVAN. – The forthcoming presidential election in Armenia will be a technicality, Caucasus Institute Deputy Director, political analyst Sergey Minasyan said during a press conference on Tuesday.

In his view, except for incumbent President Serzh Sargsyan, the remaining presidential candidates have no chance to win the election. And this, as per Minasyan, is dictated by the situation that was created at the end of last year and following the parliamentary elections in May 2012.

According to the analyst, although numerous key political forces have refused to participate in the presidential race, the situation is favorable for Serzh Sargsyan.

Reflecting on the query with respect to the other presidential hopefuls’ motives for running in the upcoming election, Minasyan noted that some of them were in Armenia’s political arena previously, too, and their running for president is conditioned by their future political activities.

Sergey Minasyan predicted that there will not be a presidential run-off and the post-election processes will take place tranquilly.
