YEREVAN.- Iranian side will make every effort to assist Armenia to include the Blue Mosque in Yerevan in the list of UNESCO World Heritage Sites, head of Iranian cultural center Mehran Shiravand said.

“Inclusion of the Blue Mosque in the UNESCO list would be a big step,” he said, recalling that the initiative came from the Iranian side.

According to him, Armenia’s Ministry of Culture makes every effort in this direction. In its turn, the Iranian side contributes to the preservation of the region’s largest monument of Iranian culture.

Blue Mosque was built in 1766 by Guseinali Khan Qajar. This is the largest mosque in the Caucasus.
