YEREVAN. – The results have come in with respect to the forensic examination of the Nagant M1895 Revolver that was found along the lines of the ongoing criminal case into the assassination attempt against Armenian presidential candidate, opposition National Self-Determination Union Chairman Paruyr Hayrikyan, who is recovering at hospital from a gunshot wound.      

“As it was informed, two persons were arrested on suspicion of carrying out an assassination attempt against Paruyr Hayrikyan, and a Nagant M1895 Revolver was found at the home of one of the arrestees. The gun was discovered based on the information provided by the wife of suspect Khachatur Poghosyan. The confiscated weapon was sent for forensic examination.

And the expert’s conclusion is received, whereby it has become clear that the two 7.62 mm caliber bullets, which were found during inspection of the scene of the incident and in Hayrikyan’s body, were fired from the Nagant-type revolver that was sent for forensic examination.        

The investigation is in progress,” the National Security Service Press Center’s statement reads in particular.
