YEREVAN.- Armenia’s Central Electoral Committee confirmed on Monday a protocol on final results of the February 18 presidential elections.

According to the final official results, incumbent president, leader of the ruling Republican Party of Armenia, Serzh Sargsyan won elections in the first round, getting 58.64 percent (861,373 votes). Head of Heritage Party Raffi Hovannisian was the second with 36.75 percent of voters (539,693).

Immediately after the elections, Hovannisian proclaimed himself the winner, not recognizing preliminary results. Raffi Hovannisian will give a press conference in an hour.

The remaining five candidates have not received substantial support from voters. The third was former Prime Minister of Armenia, Chairman of the Freedom party Hrant Bagratyan - 2.15% (31,643).

Head of the Union for National Self-Determination Paruyr Hayrikyan, who has recently survived an assassination attempt, came in the fourth, gaining 1.23% of votes (18,096). Analyst Andreas Ghukasyan who was on hunger strike during the campaign, was supported by 0.57 % of voters (8329). Vardan Setrakyan got 0.42% (6210), and the outsider was former Foreign Minister Arman Melikyan - 0.24% (3520).

More than 50,000 ballots were invalidated.
